Use your own domain

Serve your Link in Bio page on a domain you own, like links.yourname.com: connect it, add the DNS records Pinned lists, then verify it.

Use your own domain to show your Link in Bio page at an address like links.yourname.com instead of your pinned.gg address. You connect the domain in Account settings, add a few DNS records where you bought it, and Pinned checks them.

Note

Available on the Creator and Business plans.

Before you start

A subdomain such as links.yourname.com works well. It points at Pinned and leaves the rest of your domain alone. A root domain such as yourname.com also works.

Connect your domain

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings.
  2. On the Account settings page, find the Custom domain section.
  3. Click the field with the hint "links.yourname.com" and type your domain.
  4. Click Connect. The button reads Connecting… while Pinned saves the domain.

If you paste a full web address, Pinned trims it down to the domain. You can connect one domain per account. Connecting a different domain replaces the one you had.

Add the DNS records

After you connect, the section lists the records to add at your domain provider, under DNS records to add at your domain provider. The table has the columns Type, Name and Value.

  1. Open the DNS settings for your domain at the company you bought it from.
  2. Remove any other record on that name first. For a subdomain, a name can only have one CNAME. For a root domain, remove any other A or AAAA records on @.
  3. Add each record from the table. A subdomain gets a CNAME record. A root domain gets an A record. You also add a TXT record that proves the domain is yours.
  4. To copy a name or value, click the copy icon next to it. The icon changes to a check mark for a moment.

The Name column shows the short name, such as "links". Some providers want the full name, such as links.avareyes.com, instead. Use the full name if the short one is rejected.

If you see more than one TXT record, add each one. Once Pinned finds your ownership record, it drops off the list.

Verify your domain

  1. Back in the Custom domain section, click Verify. The button reads Checking… while Pinned looks at your DNS.
  2. Read the status next to your domain. The text under it shows when Pinned last checked.
  3. If the status is not Active, wait and click Verify again.

DNS changes usually show up within minutes but can take a few hours.

StatusWhat it means
ActiveYour page is live on this domain. The domain becomes a link you can open.
Waiting for DNSPinned is waiting for your records to be found. Check them and verify again later.
Needs attentionSomething stopped the domain from connecting. The message under the domain says what.

Once the domain is Active, the Verify button reads Re-check. Keep the DNS records in place. If you delete them, your domain stops working.

How www and bare domains relate

Pinned treats a domain and its www version as twins. If you connect yourname.com, visits to the www version of it are matched to your page too. The same applies the other way around. The table lists records only for the name you connected, so check your DNS provider for the other version.

Only your Link in Bio page is served on your domain. Sign-in and the dashboard stay on pinned.gg.

Remove your domain

  1. In the Custom domain section, click Remove.
  2. Confirm in the box that asks "Disconnect" followed by your domain.

Your page stays live at its pinned.gg address.

If your plan changes

If your plan no longer includes a custom domain, your domain shows as paused. Visitors are sent to your pinned.gg page instead. In the section you can click See plans to upgrade and serve the domain again, or click Disconnect to remove it. On the Free plan, the section shows a Creator lock badge and the See plans button. See Manage your plan and billing.

Troubleshooting

The status stays on Waiting for DNS

Check that the records match the table exactly, and that you removed any conflicting records on that name. Pinned may show "DNS records not found yet. Changes can take up to a few hours to spread." Wait a while, then click Verify.

Pinned asks for the TXT record

The message "Add the TXT record" followed by a name starting with _pinned-verify tells you the ownership record is missing. Add the TXT record from the table, then click Verify.

Pinned couldn't look up your DNS

If you see "Couldn't look up your domain's DNS just now. Try again in a minute.", wait a minute and click Verify again.

The domain is already connected to another account

If the domain is yours, the message gives a TXT record to add at your DNS provider. Add it, then connect the domain again.

Pinned rejects the domain

Use the full domain you registered, including its ending such as .com. Pinned does not accept IP addresses, domains that belong to Pinned or its host, or a bare domain ending such as co.uk.

The status says Needs attention

Read the message under the domain. If it says the host couldn't add the domain, check whether the domain is still set up at another hosting service and remove it there first. Then click Verify.

Pinned says it still has to finish setting up custom domains

Your domain is saved but can't go live yet. Add the records now. Once setup is done, Verify connects it. If this takes long, contact support@pinned.gg.

The section says it couldn't load your domain settings

Click Try again.
